Disneyland

I decided to go back to work for my old firm during tax season this year and after a long, hard few months, we took a trip to Disneyland. We were so excited (even Ox). We were gone from April 30-May 5 and went to Disneyland/California Adventure for 3 days. We only had one "event" on the drive to California. Katelyn informed us that she had to go to the bathroom and before we had a chance to pull over, she peed in her carseat. It was horrible! But, that was the worst thing that happened, thank goodness.

The first day at Disneyland was NOT what I had anticipated. I had visions of Katelyn being in awe, jumping up and down, and wanting to go on every ride, right now! Reality was that she got scared on the 2nd ride we went on (Pinnochio) and after that, she didn't want to go on anything else. We had to force her to go on rides. It was pretty much a nightmare for me. I wanted her to love Disneyland as much as I do. But, things got better the next day. She was more willing to go on rides and wasn't too big of a party pooper.

I think Heidi was as scared of the rides as Katelyn was only she wasn't vocal about it. When we got off of Pinnochio on the first day, we thought Heidi had fallen asleep during the ride because her eyes were closed when we came out. However, we later determined that she wasn't asleep, she was just closing her eyes and going to her "happy place". She did this on almost every single ride we went on over the course of our time there. So, needless to say, it was a pretty fun trip and we decided we will wait until our youngest child is 5 to go back so hopefully everyone will be excited and hopefully have fun.

The first day, we went to a restaurant in California Adventure called "Ariel's Grotto". The princesses stop by everyone's tables and the kids can have their autographs and pictures with them. Pricey but worth it. This saved me from crying that day. Katelyn loved it.

The 2nd day, we took Katelyn to a place in Disneyland called "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique". She was transformed into Cinderella. It was quite the experience. They let her pick out what costume she wanted along with shoes and 2 accessories (she chose Cinderella and picked out a purse and a wand". We changed her into the costume and then she got her hair, makeup and nails done. She looked so beautiful and had a great time. Again, pricey but worth it.

The 3rd day, we just took our time and didn't force anything. It was a good day. All in all, it was nice to get away and spend time together as a family. Here are some pictures.

Katelyn's Eye

Today, Katelyn woke up with pink eye. I told her she couldn't go to school and she was very disappointed. I asked her to say the blessing on our breakfast and this is how she ended her prayer "and please bless my eye that it will turn blue again". I LOVE THIS GIRL!!

I Have Three Brothers

Earlier this week, we were getting into the car and Katelyn looked at me and said, "I have three brothers, Mama!" I looked at her and said, "Really? Who are they?" She said, "Anson, Devin, and Jesus." I love this girl!

Katelyn's 1st Day of Preschool

Well, I knew this day would come, I only thought I'd be there to witness it! Katelyn started preschool, Apples to Zebras, on Monday, September 13, 2010. I had a doctor's appointment that morning, so Daddy got to take Katelyn to school.

We enrolled Katelyn in the preschool offered through the City of Chandler. Her cousins (Ellee, Renee, and Anna) have gone to Apples to Zebras and we decided to make it a family tradition! When I registered Katelyn, I requested that she be put in Anna's class. It wasn't until the night before school that I panicked. I panicked because I realized that since Katelyn gets so excited to be with Anna, she may not obey her teacher and pay attention. So, we had a little talk the night before school and told her that if she didn't obey and stay in her seat and do as she was told, we may have to separate her from Anna. Her eyes were huge and she DEFINITELY did not want that consequence!

Grandma Auxier had gotten Katelyn and Anna matching dresses for the first day of school and Katelyn was sooo excited to wear it. She kept saying her and Anna were twins! They looked adorable and the first day of school was a success! Here are the pictures Daddy took.

Let's go, Daddy!

Are you coming?

Her backpack is almost as big as she is!

In the car, ready to go!

Heidi turned 1!

Heidi turned 1 last Tuesday (August 24th)! I watched the clock and cried a little when it was 12:38 p.m. She weighed 4 ounces more than her sister (Heidi was 7 lbs 11oz), but is smaller than Katelyn was at this age. She is a petite little thing (only 3rd percentile for weight) and is DEFINITELY a Mama's girl! (YAY!!)

I can't believe it's already been a year since Heidi was born! This year has flown by! I wish I could make time go slower. Before I know it, my girls will be grown and gone. I get teary just thinking about it. Nothing has brought greater happiness to my life than my girls. I love them and am so thankful that I am their mom.

We didn't really celebrate all that much on the 24th. Aunt Lisa and Devin came to visit and I made homemade pizza. After dinner we went to get frozen yogurt at Golden Spoon. We officially celebrated on Saturday the 28th with a party at Grandma and Grandpa Auxier's house. We barbecued, swam, and had cake and ice cream. It was lots of fun. In attendance were Grandma Auxier, Grandpa Auxier, Aunt Laura, Uncle Spenser, Ellee, Renee, Anna, Anson, Aunt Bethany, Uncle Luis, baby Patricia, Aunt Annie, Uncle Aaron, Papa (Grandpa Romero), Mema (Grandma Romero), Aunt Lisa, Devin, and Dylan. We sure missed Great-grandpa Rex (he was in the hospital), Aunt Patricia, and Uncle Kevin. You were there in spirit, though! I think Heidi had a good time - it's hard to tell at this age, though!

Before I post pictures, here are some things that I love about my Heidi baby:

- She gives THE BEST hugs!!

- She is a snuggler and lets me hold her whenever I want to (and sometimes when I DON'T want to!)

- She likes to play with my hair.

- She FINALLY started holding her own sippy cup!! (The day before her birthday!)

- She loves to be sung to. She absolutely loves "You Are My Sunshine".

- She dances with me.

- She loves to watch Katelyn but doesn't like it when Katelyn plays rough with her!

- She's shy and puts her head on my shoulder when people that she doesn't know talk to her.

- She's a good sleeper. She sleeps 13-14 hours at night and takes a 3 hour nap during the day!

I love you my Heidi baby. You're growing up so fast and I hope you will always let me hold and snuggle you! You have brought so much joy and happiness to our family!

She loved her party hat!

Wow!

Let me at it!

I don't know about this...

Yummy!!!!

Waste Water Treatment Plant

Sometimes I get frustrated at the amount of questions Katelyn asks. She is CONSTANTLY asking questions! I should be grateful to have an inquisitive child. She likes to ask where things (people, objects, anything) are and where they are going. Well, one day, while flushing the toilet, she asked where her pee-pee and poo-poo were going. Ox doesn't like to beat around the bush and he told her matter-of-factly, "they're going to the Waste Water Treatment Plant".

Well, not too long ago, Grandma and Grandpa Auxier watched the girls for us and while Katelyn was using the bathroom she asked "where are my pee-pee and poo-poo going?". I'm not sure what Grandma and Grandpa said, but Katelyn said, "they're going to the Waste Water Treatment Plant". Grandma and Grandpa were impressed and Daddy was VERY proud of his girl!

Daddy Lives at Work

Katelyn has been learning where everyone lives (what city, etc.). We like to quiz her (where does Uncle Kevin live, where does Aunt Bethany live, etc., etc.). She's actually got everyone down pat - she even knows that she lives in Chandler. Well, one night, Ox was quizzing her and at the end, he asked her, "where does Daddy live?" She answered, without missing a beat, "Daddy lives at work". Ha ha! I couldn't stop laughing. I think it kind of hurt Ox's feelings (don't worry, I asked him if I could post this without hurting his feelings and he said yes). Ox had just finished working a couple of 65+ hour weeks and we hadn't seen much of him. You definitely can't pull one over on Katelyn! :)
